From Middle Class Kid to First Class Addict- Getting to know the drug
This is the first part of a three part series submitted by Rick Jacobs. Rick, as usual, has put his all into writing these columns in the hope that one parent might be able to save a kid from falling victim to the hell his friend Lana suffered. If you have to, make your kids read these columns – it may save their life one day.

Spending time with Meth What goes on in the life of an addict
This is the second part of a three part series written by Rick Jacobs. Part one was getting to know the drug Meth. If you missed it, look on our website at www.bartlettexpress.com. Rick and I both feel it is very important that these columns be shared with teens and young adults because of the impact this drug has on their lives. Even if you don’t think your kid has ever tried drugs – why not do everything possible to make sure they don’t. Cut out the columns and leave them somewhere for them to read. Then educate yourself and be ready to talk.

Now the hard part Getting off Meth and staying off Meth
This is the third part of a series of columns by Rick Jacobs. Rick’s friend Lana has been a meth addict for two years and is now going through recovery. Through Lana’s experiences Rick has shared what happens when an average, middle class, kid tries methamphetamine. The drug has no boundaries, knows no color, class and has no agenda except to hook as many people as possible. The first two columns are available online. Read them; and have your kids read them.

Oak Elementary holds annual Egganaught contest

An egga-a-naught is a container built to hold a raw egg, which can be dropped from a distance of more than 10 feet, without the egg breaking. The eggs at Oak are dropped (or thrown) much farther than that. This year the students got a little help pitching their egg-a-naughts from a special guest. Bartlett Mayor Keith McDonald got in on the act.
